IINTERNSHIP JOURNEY

     As we all waiting for almost 4 years in our studying in college, the practicum or the OJT is what are we waiting for because we can see that after this journey in our college life we will face the reality of life, to face the things that we think that we can do more better than we do in college. This practicum which give us also the knowledge and experience what feels like after we graduate from our course. But of course it is a small step to say that we already in the IT industry. On this OJT, it is just a big disadvantage for us because it is an online transaction, we do every task that is given to us in an online or from our home which we didn’t experienced to work inside from the company or in an office. But it doesn’t gave us discouragement to stop us to do what we need to achieved instead we use it as an advantage because as an IT student and one of the employee in the IT industry someday we expect to work from our home like becoming as a freelancer.

    I thank the faculties who are approachable during this practicum and this pandemic the COVID-19, because of them we did our best to overcome any challenges. To the people who shared their experiences and expertise on different field in IT industry we thank you for doing webinars to give us encouragement and hope to do what we started. Even though these seminars are being held online, we really appreciated the things that you do for us even though we didn’t give anything in return. I’m sure that if these webinars are being held face-to-face, we can gain more knowledge than we gain from online.

    Moreover, part of our practicum or OJT is to participate in the WILDLIFE 2022 which is held from Subangan located at Dahican, City of Mati. From this activity, we have a time with our classmates to hangout even though this is part of practicum but it gave us time to relax and enjoy the time. For this activity also we see personally the kinds of things or the materials or the living things that the Davao Oriental can proud of to the other provinces or country.

    After we relax our minds and body, the day after that activity we started again to continue our task which is to create application form, resume and insights in every webinar that we attended. Of course it is very tired to do those things especially if you are out of ideas to include but we need to finish those task to pass this semester. O
ne of the requirements also in this OJT is to enroll in the Coursera of course we chose those simple, small amount of time and a free course, it is not easy to perform those kinds of activity especially my unit is not those having a high specs to handle multiple task but thankfully I succeeded to finish my task in the given time.

    Daily Logs it is a monitoring of our daily activities that is part of our OJT, because of this daily log the faculty can identify if we are doing our task that is given to us, if there is improvement to our module and system. Part of this system is our capstone, th
e capstone project which has been started since our 1^st semester in our 4^th year college and it is part now in our OJT. This capstone project was done already thanks to the people who helped and guided us, because of them we defended it successfully to the panels.

    On my own experienced from this online OJT, it is very hard to do the task because it is online and I know that not every one of us can provide laptops or pcs to do the activities given to us but all I can say to the next generation that will follow us to become one of the people in the IT industry is that don’t ever give up, if you don’t have the materials that needed to finish your activities don’t think that you can’t, think of the things that can you do to finish, we have friends that we can rely on, we have families that we can depend on just don’t give up because of what you don’t have.
